Dealing with Dental Plaque
All of us suffer with plaque problems. Plaque is caused when you eat and drink as the carbohydrates and other things turn to bacteria and then start to eat away at the lining of your teeth, leaving you with rotting teeth and you will need to contact Sunset Dental Care in Sunset Utah to schedule a cleaning and examination.
The easiest way to get rid of plaque problems is by taking care of your teeth. Start brushing your teeth with a soft bristled tooth brush and use toothpaste that has fluoride. This will help to build up the enamel on your teeth and it also helps to prevent pulling the gums away from the teeth. Flossing just below the gum line will also prevent plaque from getting worse as it will remove the plaque that starts to build up around the tooth, leading to a number of gum disease problems.
Having routine cleanings from our Sunset Dental team will also prevent tooth problems from getting worse. We will clean below the gum line and remove any plaque that is starting to form around your tooth. If tooth decay is very prominent in your family, we may also need to provide you with prescription toothpaste and other things to help build up the enamel surrounding your teeth.
Dental plaque is that colorless film that you can often feel on your teeth. It will attack the enamel of your teeth and will start to wear it down; leading to additional problems besides just cavities you may be looking at root canals or even extractions. How often do you need to brush? You must brush at least 2 times a day and it is important to floss at least once per day in order to control plaque. Drinking plenty of water will wash carbohydrates off your teeth and this helps you avoid having as many plaque problems.
