Preventative Dental Care
One of our goals at Sunset Dental Care is to help reduce the risk of oral health problems. We work with patients to create custom treatment plans designed to improve your oral health. Our team is dedicated to staying updated with the latest dental procedures and techniques designed to reduce oral health problems. Preventive dental care is designed to help patients avoid major issues like root canals, extractions, and gum disease.
Preventative Dental Strategies
Our custom preventive oral care strategies include several in-office and home care activities, including:
At-home oral hygiene. Children and adults often need help in learning how to correctly care for their teeth and gums. Sunset Dental Care will teach our patients how to properly brush and floss twice daily to remove dental plaque. If plaque is left on the teeth, it will harden into tartar and causes tooth decay and gum disease.
Fluoride. We recommend in-office fluoride treatments for younger patients. Fluoride treatments are recommended as they strengthen the enamel of the teeth and protect the tooth from cavities. We strongly recommend all patients use fluoride toothpaste to aid in the reduction of cavities and gum disease.
Diet. A well-balanced diet plays an important role in your oral health. Foods with sugars and carbohydrates increase the risk of bacteria, which produces dental plaque and leads to problems with cavities and gum disease. Try rinsing your mouth with water after meals to reduce the amount of bacteria that leads to plaque.
Regular dental visits. It is important to come in for regular check-ups. We recommend every six months to reduce the risk of oral health issues. When you visit our Sunset, Utah dental office, we will take x-rays, clean your teeth and gums, and check for any signs of decay. Our goal is to help you keep your mouth healthy and prevent oral diseases. Children need to see the dentist regularly to ensure proper oral growth and development.
